PADI AWARE Coral Reef Conservation Specialty Course 

Highlights

• Short 2 day course that covers the essentials of coral biology, reef ecology and a brief overview of our restoration project and the various coral restoration methods 

• Learn about the routine tasks needed to maintain the coral nursery for optimal coral health

• 4 dives where you will get to practice your skills and finally plant your own coral fragment

• Scuba diving equipment (BCD, regulator, mask, fins, tanks, and weights) included. You are welcome to bring your own gear

• Requires PADI/SSI Open Water certification. If you don't have it, we can help certify you. 

• Easy access by swimming out from shore. No boat ride needed.

• All profits go towards our coral restoration efforts.

Description

This course offers a more complete overview of the coral species that form the Mesoamerican Reef ecosystem. This course is a prerequisite for anyone who wishes to volunteer  with us in Cozumel, or any coral restoration project elsewhere. You will earn your PADI AWARE Coral Reef Conservation specialty which can be used towards more advanced courses.

We run this 2 day course weekly, 10am to 4pm, Thursday to Friday. If you can't find a course in our schedule that matches your availability, please contact us directly to see if we can accommodate you.

• Long sleeve T-shirt or rash guard. Do NOT wear sunscreen or skincare products prior to diving. Even 'reef safe" ones have non-biodegradable compounds that damage corals.

Cancellation Policy

• 100% cancellation fee if cancelled 1 day or less before start
  35% cancellation fee if cancelled 7 days or less before start

​

Bad Weather Policy

​Safety is the most important when diving or snorkeling. When the north winds are too strong, the Cozumel harbormaster closes the port to all underwater activities, cancelling your dive.  If the dive is canceled, updates will be sent to participants via email or WhatsApp as soon as possible, with options provided to either reschedule your course or receive a refund.
